Program Overview

Why we are different

We are a private preschool that focuses on play, interaction, and questioning as a mode for learning.

ALC’s Teaching Philosophy

Our program is designed to meet the developmental needs of young children. It provides experiences that enrich and enhance each child’s cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical, and creative development. Within the center’s daily schedule, each child has opportunities to create, explore the environment, learn problem solving and personal interaction skills, and learn concepts through first-hand experiences. Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self- and teacher-facilitated activities.
Opportunities for solitary play as well as group activities are provided. Staff serve as positive role models and provide care that is supportive, nurturing, warm and responsive to each child’s individual needs. The adult’s responsibility in a developmental program is to assist the child in growing to his or her fullest potential by recognizing each stage of development and fashioning a curriculum that will nurture and facilitate growth during that stage. We respect parents as the primary and most important provider of care and nurturing, and we believe parents and teachers are partners in children’s care and education.

Programs employed at ALC

The philosophy of Conscious Discipline emerged after years of working with children, and experiencing the challenges of a broken system full of hurting children and frustrated adults. The methodology, programs and best-practices offer a different – and proven – pathway to transformation.

The Baby Signs® Program helps children develop both language and cognitive skills. Studies show that babies who sign actually develop speech sooner and have larger vocabularies when they do start talking.
At ALC we start with signing as early as 5 months. Our staff use basic signs to help in understanding and caring for their basic needs while increasing the respect for the babies in their care.

Every yoga class contains 5 components: connect, breath, move, focus, and relax. These elements are addressed through a variety of sequences and activities, that are adapted to adjust each child’s developmental level. The curriculum strives to improve physical, mental, and emotional health, helping children to develop their ability to focus and concentrate. Yoga is offered at ALC year round!

We believe that parents should have the choice of choosing extra curricular programs for their child to participate in, while at our center. We have teamed with several reputable outside instructors and programs to provide parents and kids with great additional programs at our center. If you are interested in enrolling your child in an extra curricular activity please stop by the front office for more information.
